Mahal carpets are knotted by hand in the Mahal region, situated southwest of the capital Teheran. The carpets are known for their bold geometric designs and vibrant colors.
The designs of Mahal carpets often feature repeating patterns of diamonds, hexagons, and other geometric shapes, with colours ranging from rich reds and blues to bright oranges and yellows.
Mahal carpets are knotted using the Senneh knot which makes them very durable and perfectly capable of withstanding regular daily use and traffic.
Patina
Our collection of Patina carpets is comprised of older Persian carpets that all show signs of natural wear and ageing. The carpets are carefully selected with the intention of preserving their cultural heritage and breathing new life into them. All our Patina carpets are washed before undergoing a thorough inspection. If any signs of damage are found these are attended to, and if the pile is unevenly trimmed it is gently polished down to achieve an even pile and add a natural sheen to the carpet.
The result is a one-of-a-kind carpet that still possesses all the qualities of an older hand-knotted carpet. A beautiful carpet with a genuine feel that has intentionally been allowed to retain a distinct patina appearance: to be discovered and admired by yet another generation to come.
